Egypt Weather

Egypt provides all year round warm temperatures making it an ideal destination for a beach holiday, Nile Cruise or Nile Cruise and Stay. There are many places of historical and cultural interest in Egypt and what better way to enjoy the all year round sunshine than to gently cruise along the Nile or relax on a sun drenched golden sandy beach.

Example Nile Cruise Itinerary

Order of sailing and touring is subject to change locally and is dependant on the Boat that is booked. Your tour guide will advise you accordingly.

Day 1 Transfer on arrival (approx. 20 minutes) to your cruise ship.

There is normally a welcome meeting to discuss the week ahead  which will take place either this evening or the following day, depending on your flight arrival time.

 Day 2 This morning will be an early start. Cross over to the West Bank of the Nile for the first excursion, The Valley of the Kings, which will include 3 Tombs. (Optional visit to Tomb of Tutanhkhamun (extra charge – see tour guide for details). From here it is a short drive to the Temple of Hatshepsut and then another to the Valley of the Queens, where we visit 1 or 2 Tombs. En route back to the boat we will stop at the Colossi of Memnon for pictures. (This whole morning tour takes approximately 5 hours.) On arrival back at the boat, lunch is served and the boat sets sail. The afternoon is spent relaxing on the sundeck while watching the varied local life on the river and its banks. Tea and cakes are served at “Tea-time”. At some stage during the evening or night, the boat passes through the Lock at Esna and docks in Edfu 3 – 4 hours later.

 Day 3 Morning visit to the spectacular Temple at Edfu. Afterwards, there is free time to roam the local market where you will be able to prepare for this evening’s Galabiya Party on board the boat. During or after lunch we set sail for Aswan which takes approximately 10 hours. The afternoon is spent relaxing on the sundeck while watching the varied local life on the river and its banks. Tea and cakes are served at “Tea-time”. The evening entertainment involves fancy dress where everyone dresses up in galabiya and head scarves for dinner and the “Galabiya” games party. (Galabiyas are a kind of kaftan - they can be bought very cheaply in the markets and on the boat - more elaborate costumes can also be purchased or hired at very reasonable charges. However, fancy dress is, of course, entirely optional !!) Late that night the boat docks in Aswan for 2 nights.

Day 4 Morning visit to the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and then by boat to the Temple of Philae on Philae Island. In the afternoon sail by Felucca to Kitchener Island and its Botanical Gardens. (If the docking area at Kitchener Island is over-crowded it may be necessary to exclude the visit to Kitchener Island. The tour guide will advise you accordingly.) Tonight’s entertainment will be an Egyptian style ‘Treasure Hunt’.

Day 5 Today can be spent either at leisure or on optional excursions. The most popular excursion being to the Temple of Abu Simbel which is available by coach (approx £85) or by air (approx. £175). In the afternoon an optional excursion to a Nubian Village (approx. £12). In the late afternoon we set sail for Kom Ombo and usu ally the visit to the Ptolemic Temple takes place that evening. Overnight may be in Kom Ombo or in Edfu. Evening entertainment includes an authentic Nubian dancer.

Day 6 All day sailing downstream to Luxor via the Esna Lock. The day is spent at leisure on board arriving into Luxor by that evening. This evening enjoy a traditional Belly Dancer.

Day 7 The day begins with a morning visit to the Temple of Karnak and a papyrus museum. There is an optional extension after the visit to the Temple of Karnak to a traditional perfume shop in Luxor: Transport directly back to the boat (ask the guide) is available to passengers who do not wish to visit the perfume shop. After lunch, visit the Temple of Luxor after which there is ample opportunity to explore the markets of Luxor for souvenirs and gifts. That evening there is an optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple (approx £23.00).

Day 8 Leisure time prior to your flight or transfer to your next resort.
