Go Back in Time with an Egypt Nile Cruise

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

These days there are many holidays for you to choose between. Rudimentary searches on the internet or a trip to your local travel agents will quickly reveal exactly how broad the level of choice is. You can opt for beach vacations, adventure trips, cultural tours and much more.

However, there is one country that stands out from all others because of its immense historical importance and that is Egypt. This north African nation has such a rich vein of history that it has proved to be a mecca for academics, archaeologists and many other such people over the years. And of course, thanks to fantastic deals such as Egypt Nile cruises, it is also a hit with tourists.

There is nothing that compares to an adventure to this fascinating part of the world. As you travel around different areas, you can feel a tangible connection to the ancient world. And it is virtually impossible to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the sheer sophistication and impressiveness of the monuments that exist to this day.

While on your Nile cruise trips, you can see sights of interest such as the Temple at Luxor and you can even crawl into a pyramid. Meanwhile, you may want to come face to face with a Sphinx and visit the ancient capital of Memphis, among other things.

When people return from Nile river cruises they often feel differently about themselves and the world. Gaining such a strong sense of connection with people who lived in millennia gone by is a truly wonderful experience and one not to be missed.

What You Can See on a Nile Cruise

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

The time of the Egyptian Empire was one of the most fascinating times during human history. Its appeal is shown in the enduring popularity of figures such as Tutankhamen and the constant cultural crossovers we still see today. From hieroglyphs to Pharaohs to mummification, the range of customs that are still well known about today is staggering, outweighing most other historical civilisations.

On a Nile Cruise, you can discover more about this captivating period easily while enjoying a luxurious holiday at the very same time. Many of the most popular historical sights in Egypt are located along the banks of the Nile and a Nile Cruise offers you unprecedented access to them all.

The Valley of the Kings is one of the most famous sights you will see, being the final resting place of Egypt’s most famous Pharaohs, Tutankhamen included. The World famous Aswan Dam is also easily accessible, while at Luxor you will find numerous famous monuments from the Luxor temple to the Statue of Ramesses, the obelisk and the avenue of the Sphinxes.

Nile River Cruises will also afford you more obscure, but equally as breathtaking wonders such as the iconic temples at Abu Simbel. There is also the chance to see how modern day Egyptians live and work, as you weave your way down the historic river, achieving the full range of cultural experience that is possible.

Nile River Cruises are by far the easiest way to see all the best sights that Egypt has to offer – not only that, whilst you relax by the pool, you are always on your way to another amazing landmark.

Choose An Unusual Destination For Your River Nile Cruise

Monday, January 4th, 2010

It may be that you want to use one of the River Nile cruises towards the southern part of Egypt that brings you nearer the heart of Africa. Africa is a fascinating continent, remarkable for its diversity and beauty.

One of the southernmost areas for you to visit is Aswan, which is near the gateway to Africa and is just short of Cairo.

Aswan lies near the first of seven cataracts or more generally known as the Nile Rapids.

Historically, Aswan has the only granite quarry in Egypt. The granite rocks make rapids which jutting out make it impassable for Nile cruise ships to come too close. However, moorings were made possible for steamers and Nile river ships on the Aswan cornice.

This riverside town is well known as a skiing resort in the winter. In the summer months, it is rumoured that if visitors come to the resort with certain ailments the dry heat will cure them.

Just further inland there is Sharia-el-Souq; a bustling market which has a reputation for its unusual spices.

You may feel you would like to travel to the short distance to the High Dam and visit Abu Simbel the famous temple of Ramses 11.

At One Small Step Travel, we give all our customers a choice of cruising down the River Nile on one of our Nile cruise ships or if preferable you can choose to book a hotel and cruise. Staying in a hotel gives you the perfect excuse to roam round towns and villages while soaking up the atmosphere.
