A Nile Cruise to Remember

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

The River Nile is a popular destination in Egypt drawing millions of tourists every year to its banks. It is the longest river in the entire world boasting a length of 4,100 miles in total. A River Nile cruise gives you the opportunity to view and explore this amazing location for yourself. A cruise is an exceptional way to travel with the benefit of sightseeing opportunities at numerous locations along the way. This is a huge advantage over staying in a hotel as you travel from Luxor to Aswan; you are able to see numerous historical places of interest between these points on the river. Not only are you able to view them from the ship itself but there are many excursions scheduled along the way for passengers to leave the ship and explore. These are usually taken before lunch or around evening time as the midday sun can be extremely hot.

However, if a passenger wishes to stay on board they are free to use the on board facilities t their leisure. The specific amenities available do range from ship to ship but there is something for everyone. There is also a varied evening entertainment schedule each evening on most of the ships to provide an enjoyable nightlife. We have a vast range of cruise ships to choose from and all our Nile cruises are a brilliant opportunity to experience Egypt at its very heart.

Sun Protection for Little Queens and Pharaohs on an Egypt Nile Cruise

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Our Nile cruises are family friendly affairs with tons of fun excursions and inclusive options for families of all sizes, budgets and motivation levels (because sometimes it’s fine just to sunbathe on deck and watch the world go by for a week!)

Whilst they may manage to fall out of trees unscathed, children are very susceptible to UV damage from the sun, and can burn in less than fifteen minutes. Sun damage early in life can have lasting ramifications.

1. Apply sunscreen of 30SPF or higher during daylight hours for the entire trip. Sand and water can intensify the effects of the sun, so even just sitting out on deck briefly could be harmful.

2. Remember to cover spots you might not think of – the eyelids, lips, ears and feet being main culprits for sunburn. Sunglasses will help protect your children’s eyes from the sun, reducing the likelihood of headaches.

3. Cover as much skin as possible using clothes. Loose fitting linen or cotton clothes are ideal. Opt for long sleeved loose shirts and long shorts or trousers. If you can get them to keep it on, a sunhat is ideal and can help protect the head, neck and face from sunburn.

4. Our Nile cruise ships all have plenty of shade and cool spots, so make sure your little ones spend as much time as possible out of direct sunlight both on board and on excursions.

5. Give them their own SPF stick in a funky colour to draw patterns and make sun protection a little more fun!

Take a Holiday from Electronic Distractions

Monday, June 27th, 2011

We live in an age of beeps where the electronic devices in our hands probably see more face-time with us than our nearest and dearest. Whilst our Nile cruise holidays are as freely customisable as you like (who says four excursions a day is too much!), we find many of our clients are aboard our luxury Nile cruise ships for one reason – relaxation! And one of the best ways to relax? Cut the cord and leave the electronics at home.

Put Down the Mobile
Most mobile service providers thump hefty roaming fees on service outside the UK, so if you need your mobile make sure you add a bundle to cover costs abroad. Most folks feel a little lost without their mobiles, but trust us, a few hazy days on one of our Nile cruises and you’ll soon acclimatise to the lack of beeps in your life! Lots of people like to keep a mobile on them for emergencies, so perhaps consider just one per group and hand out the contact number to folks back home.

Ditch the Games Console
This is a controversial one, particularly for families who don’t want their kids sulking for the entire trip. If you think it’s the right thing for your family or holiday group, ban games consoles in favour of excursions. An insider tip from our reps – if you ban the games console and don’t put a little effort into planning alternative activities, tempers often fray! But don’t worry, we can take care of all your excursion and extra activity needs.

How to Look Elegant on a Camel

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

First off, anyone who’s been on a camel will know that “elegant” is pretty much as far from what you’ll look like as possible! Our Nile cruises include as many optional excursions as you care to partake in (meaning if you prefer to nap under a parasol on deck for the entire trip you’re perfectly welcome to!) One of our top must-dos, particularly for families, is a camel trek.
Our camel treks operate along the entirety of our holiday routes, including Nile cruise and stay options.

Here are a few hints and tips to help the camel riding novice appear more Lawrence of Arabia than Mr Lawrence from Sheffield who’s never set foot near a camel before!

•    Always listen to the camel’s handler. They know their animal’s temperaments inside and out. If they say you’re not going to fall, you’re not going to fall!

•    When you mount the camel, place one foot into the stirrup and – using one energetic motion – swing the other leg over the camel. Don’t lose pace half way over or you’ll fall off.

•    Sit up straight. Good posture can help avoid the rookie mistake of overcompensating for the camel’s bizarre gait.

•    Like most animals, camels can sense nervousness in your physical behaviour. Try to sit up straight, hold the reins confidently and don’t flap about or make too much noise. Domesticated camels aren’t likely to be too phased by the odd squeal of unbalance, but the ride will likely be smoother for the both of you if you’re relaxed and confident (on the outside at least!)

Egypt has Plenty to Offer

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Trying to decide where to head for your next holiday can be exciting. After all, you work hard and so getting the chance to jet off somewhere away from the trials and tribulations of life at home can be the perfect stress relief. Indeed, without such breaks, you may eventually be rendered unable to function, too tired and stressed to cope with the challenges you face.

And these days, thanks to developments in transport, the world – as they say – is your oyster. You can pick anything from a camping vacation in the UK to a round the world tour. The only things restricting you are your imagination, and, of course, your budget.

One of the countries you might want to consider heading to is Egypt. This golden and ancient land truly has it all. From green oases to sandy deserts, bustling river ways to open stretches of coastal water and historical monuments to modern shopping and sports facilities, there is nothing this nation lacks.

This is ideal if you fancy a place that engages you in a variety of ways. It is also perfect if you are travelling with a group of people with divergent interests, as you can accommodate everyone’s preferences.

For example, you could take a Nile cruise. These trips enable you to see much the nation has to offer and means you can get a feel for the culture and history of the place. Meanwhile, if you also want the relaxation of a resort, you can combine such adventures with a Nile cruise and stay.
