If you went to school in the UK then probably one of your first experiences of history will have been learning about the Egyptians. You began with the Egyptians and then moved on to the Romans via the Greeks. The Egyptians were one of the first large recorded civilisations in the West, and because of the wealth of historical buildings and artefacts that they left behind we know a lot about them. It is this rich history that captures the imagination of young children learning about history for the first time.
