Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Most people are ready for their annual holiday and are hoping to travel to beautiful, restful destinations.

Some holidays abroad and at home in the UK are not at all restful as there is so much going on you do not have time to rest, and by the time you return home you need another holiday to recover from the one you’ve just had.

A Nile cruise holiday is the perfect choice for the person who wants to be in charge of their holiday, only venturing further if they wish.

A River Nile cruise offers rest and good food, for many people it is the ideal holiday and the ultimate prize is you don’t even have to find your way back to a hotel.

Budgeting for a Nile cruise holiday is easy as you are able to map out your dream Nile cruise holiday according to your own personal budget, this can be more cost effective than a holiday onshore or one taken in the UK.

Nile cruise ships have on board the best in food and entertainment in the evening, during the day you can treat yourself to a spa or sit out on deck and relax in the shade.

The Mystery Of A Nile Cruise Holiday

Friday, June 11th, 2010

One of the main reasons Nile river cruises are popular is the comfort they offer their guests in a hot country. The food and the hospitality are considered second to none.

River Nile cruises can also be part of an extended holiday, you can choose to disembark and stay in one of Egypt’s fabulous hotels before returning to your Nile cruise ship.

There are many famous ancient sights to explore including the famous Great Pyramids at Giza. Built over three thousand years ago they are considered by people all over the world as the most breathtaking tourist attraction Egypt has to offer its visitors.

Giza may be the most famous pyramid but there are more than 100 pyramids for tourists to look at. Most of them are situated near the city of Cairo, south of the Nile delta, travellers or tourists would usually miss them. The last Royal pyramid is still standing in Abydos, Southern Egypt, built by Ahmose the founder of the 18th Dynasty which is now part of Egypt’s new kingdom.

There is something mystical about being on a Nile cruise holiday, in a hot country, standing on a Nile cruise ship that is taking you to one of the most popular and historical parts of Egypt. Looking forward to seeing the Pyramids and discussing the whole idea of the Pharaohs of Egypt being encased in these monumental buildings for thousands of years.

At One small Step Travel we have a wide range of Nile cruises available through out the year.

The Luxury Of The Sailing Up The River Nile On A Cruise Ship

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

All throughout its history Egypt has been dominated with boats.

In the early days the only way you could get up and down the river was by boat. Transporting people and crops was a daily part of life for the Egyptians, it was said the Gods used boats to travel up and down the River Nile along with the souls of the dead.

Today in this modern world with its various methods of transport the River Nile cruises are a welcome sight on its waters.

Since the time of the Pharaohs the primary transport was called a Felucca which is a barge the Egyptians used to move bulk material up and down the River Nile, depending on the breeze of the day and the flowing current.

Nile Cruise ships can be seen gliding up and down the River Nile with the Egyptians waving at the tourists as they go about their daily routine.

When you look towards the banks of this famous river you can also spot a wide variety of animals, birds and fish who call Egypt their home.

Sailing up and down the river Nile and taking pictures of these animals living along side of the Egyptians is a breathtaking experience of nature and man coming together in a peaceful environment, no stress just calmness.

At One small Step Travel we have available a range of luxury Nile cruises or one of our cheap Nile cruises.

The Beginning And The End Of The Flooding River Nile

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

The River Nile is famous for being the longest in the world, it flows from south to north and is attached to the Blue and White River Nile and the Atbara.

It is the important Blue Nile which takes its source from Lake Tana situated in Ethiopia, Africa.

It has melting snow and spring rain which overflows, causing summer flooding of Egypt by running down the River Nile.

Nile cruise ships that use the river to bring in tourists is great for the Egyptian economy, however most of the people in Egypt depend on the water of the River Nile to irrigate crops and leave an amount of fertile top soil, to ensure the continuation of good quality food being grown at the side of its river banks.

The Aswan High Dam which was built as a back up to two other dams that were heaving at the strain of the overflowing water, also brought along other beneficial changes.

1. The dam has allowed the Egyptians to harness the water, produce electricity and the Nile River cruises are able to navigate their way through the water with improved ease.

2. The Mediterranean Sea used to force salt water into the River Nile, the Aswan high dam reducing the strength of the flow of the river changed all that, altering the lives of many Egyptians and enabling the Nile cruise ships to sail safely on its calmer waters.

At One Small Step Travel we are able to provide River Nile cruises at cost effective prices.
