Flow with History

Monday, September 6th, 2010

A river Nile cruise allows you to immerse yourself in the ebb and flow of one of the greatest lifelines of humanity. The Nile is the longest river in the world, and although it is now best associated with Egypt Nile cruises, only a fraction of its 4,160 mile length passes through Egypt.

The Nile brought fertility to the arid deserts of Egypt and without its life force; Ancient Egyptian Civilisation would never have flourished. The two rivers which combine to make the Nile are the White Nile, with its source near Lake Victoria and the Blue Nile, which flows from the Ethiopian highlands through Lake Tana.

The rains in these mystical highlands create the annual deluge which brought wealth and fertility to Egypt. When you embark upon a river Nile cruise, you are flowing into one of the richest sources of history the world has ever known.

The history of ancient Egypt in particular, is inextricably linked with the river. Egypt Nile cruises are a fantastic way of witnessing some of the most amazing remnants of one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced civilisations the world has ever known.

The Nile actually flows from South to North and eventually spills out into the Mediterranean Sea. When you choose to take a Nile cruise, you can experience a direct connection with history which is impossible to replicate in any other fashion. Please take a look at our website today and take your first steps to discovering the land of the ancients.

Prepare for a Breathtaking Nile Cruise Holiday

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

When you are approaching the time to take your annual holiday, stepping on board a Nile Cruise ship ready to sail up the River Nile can be a breathtaking experience, as this wonderful country is steeped in history.

Nile river cruises are an ideal way to try and see as much of Egypt during your short stay in the country. It is impossible to describe the wonderful scenery passing by both sides of the Nile Cruise ship – it makes you feel like a small child who wants to run from one side of the ship to the other in case you missed something.

On the banks of the River Nile there are some of Egypt’s finest monuments including Edfu, Kom-Ombo and Aswan, and who could forget to mention The Valley Of The Kings or the Queens at Luxor?

Luxury Nile cruises or one of the cheap Nile cruises have all the facilities that you could require while on board, such as a restaurant, bar and entertainment.

Cabins are of a high standard, the members of the crew will answer any questions you may have about availability of local excursions.

Anyone who wants to really get involved can set off to Cairo to see the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx who still watches over this great land.

However, if you prefer you could be sunbathing or resting on the deck of the Nile cruise ship to unwind and read a book about Egypt and its many traditions.

At RiverNileCruise.com we have a wide range of Nile Cruise holidays to suit every taste.

In Historical Times With Egyptian Women

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Gone are the days when River Nile cruise ships would sail up the river and be greeted with women washing and drying clothes at the side of the river banks .

Women’s day in Egypt is celebrated on March 16th in accordance with the UN resolution that it is a historical event which must not be forgotten.

The first woman who sacrificed her life in 1919 to uphold the revolution against colonialism was Hameida Khalil.

Thanks to Hameida Khalil and other women at that time in history, Egyptian women are entitled to vote and fill certain top-level positions.

Women are now educated to high enough standards to become respected judges or members of parliament

One famous controversial Queen of Egypt was Nefertiti, who was in power between 1358 and 1379 BC.

Nefertiti was known as ruler of the Nile and she co-ruled for many years with her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten over Egypt.

Both of these Pharaohs were bent on transforming religion and began to worship the Sun god ‘Re’ or ‘Ra’. Both Nerfertiti and Akhenaten were inseparable and Pharaoh Akhenaton would often send love poems to his queen.

However it is a historical story with an unusual ending. No one appears to know what happened to Nefertiti queen of the Nile as she disappeared without a trace.

At One Small Step Travel we hear from our River Nile Cruise passengers of the many endings from the people of Egypt relating to this historical but wonderful love story.

At One Small Step Travel we are able to provide River Nile cruises at cost effective prices.
