Example Itinerary CAIRO to ASWAN
Day 1 - Cairo
Fly from London to Egypt's capital city, Cairo. Check into the Nile Vision and overnight on board.
Day 2 - Cairo
Depart after breakfast to The Egyptian Museum, containing treasures from Egypt’s ancient past including the magnificent Tutankhamun collection. After lunch, the tour continues to the Citadel, a fortress built in 1183 AD, which houses a number of important monuments, including The Mosque of Mohamed Ali and Al-Gawahara Palace. The day finishes with a visit to the Khan el Khalil Bazaar. Overnight on board.
Day 3 - Cairo
Depart after breakfast to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt and then to Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid built by King Djoser, the first Pharaoh to have his tomb built in monumental dimensions. After lunch, the tour continues to Giza, where the famous Pyramids stand as monuments to the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt and the Great Sphinx, which has kept its secrets for centuries. Overnight on board.
Day 4 - Beni Suief
Enjoy the beauty of the Nile whilst sailing from Cairo to Beni Suief. Overnight on board.
Day 5 - Minya
Sail to Minya and visit the rock-tombs of Beni Hassan that are carved into the high limestone cliffs of the east bank of the Nile. The painted scenes depict the daily lives of the rulers and their fami lies including scenes of desert hunting, weaving and spinning, fishing, country living, gathering crops and catching birds. Overnight on board.
Day 6 – Minya
Visit Tuna el Gabal, the necropolis of Khmun which borders Amarna, the capital of the pharaoh Akhenaten. Visit Tel el Amarna (by bus) once the city of Akhenaten, the Pharaoh known for his revolutionary religion that worshiped Aten. Overnight on board.
Day 7 – Assuit
Sail to Assuit and overnight on board.
Day 8 – Sohag
Sail to Sohag and visit Abydos. The main monument at Abydos is the Temple of Seti I, built around 1300 BC by Seti and his son Ramses II. It is especially notable for its fine reliefs, considered among the best of the New Kingdom. Overnight on board.
Day 9 - Naj Hamadi & Qena
Sail to Naj Hamadi where you pass through some of the most beautiful scenery along the Nile and then sail to Qena. Overnight on board.
Day 10 - Qena & Luxor
After breakfast visit Dendarah (by bus).The temple complex of is one of the best preserved in Egypt. Sail to Luxor and visit the East Bank Temples of Luxor and Karnak. Overnight in Luxor.
Day 11 - Luxor & Esna
Visit to the West Bank to the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Sail to Esna in the afternoon and overnight in Luxor.
Day 12 – Edfu & Kom Ombo
Sail to Edfu and visit the extraordinary Temple of Horus, the mythical son of Isis and Osiris. Sail to Kom Ombo and overnight on board.
Day 13 - Kom Ombo & Aswan
Visit Kom Ombo and sail to Aswan. Visit the Unfinished Obelisk - still rooted to the bedrock of pink granite and the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. Overnight in Aswan.
Day 14 – Aswan
A.M. *Optional excursion to Abu Simbel. In the afternoon you can enjoy a boat trip around Elephantine Island which will lead you to the Botanical Gardens on General Kitchener Island given as a gift in 1890.
Day 15 - Aswan
Disembarkation after breakfast and transfer to Aswan airport for your return flight to the UK.
General information: Occasionally, due to operational difficulties a change of vessel can occur. However, the sightseeing itinerary will remain the same.
Traditionally, a tip is expected at the rate of £60.00 per person in total which includes coach drivers, bell boys, housekeeping staff, crew, bar/restaurant staff and all off the boat tipping. Additional tipping is not expected. Credit cards are accepted on board only for payment of bar bills or items purchased from the boat. Optional tours are payable in cash at the time of booking locally.
