Viking Helvetia Our Opinion:
With grand panoramic windows and the largest sun decks on the Rhine, this spacious deluxe vessel offers the ultimate experience for relaxing and sightseeing.
Built in 2005/2006, the Helvetia is specially designed for sailing on the Rhine in comfort and elegance. Higher ceilings give all 198 guests a spacious feeling, and the entire ship is set up for optimal viewing of scenery. In addition to hotel-style beds, French balconies and large picture windows in staterooms, guests can enjoy the sundeck and other open air decks while sailing. The observation deck and restaurant have huge panoramic windows, and the ship’s soaring lobby atrium has a seating area with observation windows as well.

Fine Dining
Our chefs create a variety of tasty offerings for you, with freshly prepared seasonal local vegetables, European specialties adapted to satisfy the tastes of our passengers, and homemade soups prepared daily. For breakfast, choose from our selections of pastries, cereals, breakfast meats, egg dishes, fresh fruit and selected cheeses. At lunch, select from the soup and sandwich bar, or a choice of entrées and dessert. And for dinner, you are treated to a five-course gourmet menu with regional specialties. You can also select from our regional wines to perfectly complement your meal. And wherever you sail, you will find enhancements reflecting your itinerary—it is all part of experiencing the local culture.
While you are aboard a Viking ship, you enjoy myriad services, from shipwide wi-fi service to laundry to complimentary bottled water.
Activities
To complement your onshore excursions, take part in Viking’s Cultural Highlights—immersive learning and enhancement activities both on board and ashore:
• Hands-on demonstrations in cuckoo clock-making, wooden shoe-carving or glassblowing
• Classes in cooking specialties like apple strudel and Alsatian flammkuchen
• Traditional performances of folk music and dance, or waltzes by Strauss
• Tastings of local cheeses, coffees, liqueurs and other delicacies
These in-depth experiences are included as an essential part of discovering more about the places through which you cruise, and each activity is planned specifically to illuminate each itinerary.
Culture Curriculum
Sometimes you want to dig a little deeper. We offer a series of onboard multimedia talks to shed light on the history and culture of the places you visit. Learn about:
• Dutch Masters or French impressionists
• Castles along the Rhine Valley
• The formation of the European Union
• The life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
• Wine and cuisine of southern France
• Key words and phrases in the local language wherever you are traveling
These presentations provide a context for your own observations, enhancing your travel experience.
Deck Plan

Please note sailing times and itineraries maybe subject to change, for operational reasons. The river cruise boats are not suitable for the less mobile. On river cruises English speaking local guides will join you for the visits to the historical sites but they may not travel on the cruise boat with you.
The Viking Standard
We have high standards for the English-speaking crews on board our ships. We personally recruit all of our staff members, from your stateroom steward and waiters, to hotel managers and Program Directors. Proprietary training programs are implemented by our Swiss management team to ensure we always provide the level of service you would find in a fine hotel. The Viking team brings you a level of expertise other companies cannot match.

Best of all, there is no need to do research or make arrangements in advance. We take care of all the details—transportation, reservations, entry fees and more. You return home enriched with wonderful memories.
